As a co-founder of Chimney Sweep Energy Corp. (established in 1976), I have seen this industry evolve immensely. I began my journey selling hearth products by taking care of CSEC’s bookkeeping and by answering phones. If I didn’t know the answer to a question I was asked, I would read the product’s literature or owner’s manual. If that failed, I would call the manufacture to get the answer. By diligently searching for those answers, I was able to help educate myself as well as our customers, who in turn were able to use that knowledge in their quest for making a sound decision in their search for satisfying their heating needs. At Chimney Sweep Energy Corp. we endeavor to maintain the warm, friendly, comforting atmosphere that this industry implies. I am fortunate to be able to work side by side with my son and daughter, John and Ruthie, as well as Brad who has become a vital asset. We also seek the support and advice of Jozsef who has proved to be an invaluable consultant. All are welcome to visit our store and we look to assist all our customers with equal zeal. When not in the store I can often be found riding my bike on the rail trail, in my kitchen trying out new recipes, playing with my grandson, or outdoors in my yard.
Ruthie began working, (with her parents’ permission) at Chimney Sweep Energy Corp around the age of 9. Her job consisted of sweeping the floors, dusting stoves, and replenishing stove and fireplace brochures in the showroom. As she grew up helping in her family’s business, she began to expand the hearth accessory offerings in the shop. After travelling a bit, Ruthie boomeranged back to the family business and settled into a position which allows her to diversify her attention by working with customers, ordering and tracking, searching for the best hearth products available, marketing, and more. She enjoys working in a small family business that has been helping the community stay warm and comfortable since 1976.
Along with his siblings, to make some extra spending money, John began helping out in the family business at a young age. It wasn’t long before he was out in the field as an apprentice learning the techniques of installing furnaces, boilers, solar systems, then wood stoves, coal stoves and inserts. Several years later John returned to the family owned and operated retail store and he is now acting as its President and Senior Manager. When John is not in the store, he can usually be found fly fishing on a river, working on his farm, spending time with his young son, Luke, or helping a friend or neighbor.
